Tucson Photos, Part Four: The Planes
After San Xavier mission, my cousin and I went to the Pima Air & Space Museum, which features dozens of airplanes and helicopters that you can walk up to and touch. It was an opportunity for me to get up close to Cold War hardware.
My biggest impression is that the US fighter planes are bigger than I thought. They are huge. Much bigger than the MiG 15s and MiG 21 at the museum.
All of the canopies are painted over to block UV rays. Most of the engines and intakes have likewise been sealed from the outside.
