I was lucky enough to get a photo pass to see Bright Eyes play at the Paramount in Seattle. I got up close, using a 50mm, then a 12-24mm, then from a distance, a 100mm. The first two I used with my SB-800 flash (mostly).

wow these are amazing shots, Bright Eyes are like a crazy band, i heard the stayed at the double tree for the night and the staff loved them, they all had those wicked cookies.

Thanks for the comment, Dustin. I spoke to Conor Oberst after their first or second song, as he was adjusting a pedal; I was just a couple feet from him and didn’t shout, but spoke clearly enough so I’m sure he heard me. He didn’t respond. Oh well, he was working. And I was working… repeatedly firing my flash in front of him. So I don’t begrudge him for it.

I believe in photographs that show loneliness in places that are not necessarily lonely. I enjoy photographing subjects at dusk and twilight, using long exposures in order to reveal time as well as space. Although I began with an infatuation for the light streaks left by the head and tail lights of moving cars, I have since simplified my frame and prefer to let the subject speak for itself.
I was born in California quite some time ago and spent much of my childhood in Belgium and England. I earned a degree in Journalism from Colorado State University and in 1995 took a 6-week photography trip to Baja Mexico from which I brought back some of my best work. I’ve since worked as both a commercial photographer and designer, and shown photography at galleries and businesses in Denver and Seattle, including the Denver Center for Fine Photography and RealNetworks Inc.
I had a recent fine arts show at Fuel Coffee Montlake. The auto-related photographs in this show were made between 1995 and 2006.
